    Specific moves dealing physical damage as its gimmick could work as a natural bridge toward special physical split in gen 4. For example: waterfall and blaze kick being physical. This allowing Blaziken and Sharpeedo to EV train as a physical attacker with stab on both types.

    My immediate idea to nerf swampert relative to the other starters is to make Barboach available before Watson.

      Old Rod Barboach or earlier Good Rod is just a good idea anyway. Watson is the only gym in the game that doesn't have a clear counter thats catchable around it; Roxanne: Marill, Shroomish, wingull Brawly: Saybleye, Zubat, Meditite (RS only hopefully thats fixed) Watson: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Flannery: Buttload of water types, Numel, Lunatone/Solrock Norman: Fighting type you probably have at this point Winnona: Manectric route before hand, Castform with hail and weatherball Tate & Liza: Banette or Dusclops previous route Juan: I dunno probably have something at this point

    people played the game differently back then, nobody cared about STAB and HMs were actually important. Emerald feels like an actual adventure because the game forces you to make difficult decisions, who do you teach which HM to? Who do use the single earthquake TM on, or any TM? Type distribution is only a problem when you only want to play the game as optimized as possible, Hoenn as a region is suited to having multiple water types on your team and it makes perfect sense throughout the game to do so. I don't need maximum type coverage, nobody does, that's how the games were always meant to be played.

    Metagross is such a fan favourite and cool Pokemon I’d love to be able to use it before the elite 4. Beldum maybe as a gift after the Steven Double Battle or in the tower with Rayquaza as a very rare encounter could work.

    I think making it a half bird is more effective than making it half dragon in terms of balance. I mean Sceptile.

    • @Logicalleaping
      @Logicalleaping 22 часа назад

      I mean that fits the design/balancing ethos of gen 1 with Charizard however gaining 4* weakness to ice and losing resistance to electric hardly seems worth it.

    Also I can’t be the only one who feels like making ghost special in gen 3 won’t feel like gen 3? Am I the only one who actually used Banette??

    • @Logicalleaping
      @Logicalleaping 22 часа назад

      Yes you are. Banette was always a gimmick pokemon anyway. But the simple remedy is just swap Banette's ATK and SPATK, give it access to a huge number of its SPATK TMs. That or just make it focus on Dark type moves as they have more cool effects attached to them that fit Banettes design ethos (especially Knock Off and Beat Up). I mean Banette's 83 SPATK is already fine with its 115 ATK just even them out a little. Edit: Gimmick isn't entirely true just focuses more on status effect moves that no one wants, I mean Grudge is its signature move, how useless.

      I also used shadow ball as amazing physical coverage on medicham and i distinctly remember shadow ball slacking wrecking me. making it special feels like way too divergent of a change

    • @Logicalleaping
      @Logicalleaping 22 часа назад

      @@michelleslay2701 Okay thats fair, I guess the difference is giving every Dark type actual use is better than a few pokemon losing a coverage mvoe. I imagine most will get a replacement in the Dark variety. Beat Up as a Shadow ball replacement would work as its basically a useless move as it is and fits on Slaking and Medicham.

    As someone who loved GSC and is meh to dislike on RSE, hearing them described as beta and 1.0 release just makes me feel like a game tester who loves the original unfinished project and didn't care for the changes made after testing for the official release. There's an alternate universe somewhere where instead of essentially soft-rebooting with Hoenn and RSE, GameFreak continued the trend started with GSC, building on the connected regions of the world expanding out from Kanto and Johto, using that foundation as the building blocks of each successive project going forward, where each new game is more an expansion of the last than something completely new. I dont hate all of where Pokémon has gone since, Gen4 and 5 are my absolute favorites with HGSS being my fave game in the series as a whole (with Arceus as a close second). But i often wonder how different, and perhaps more to my own tastes, the series might have been had RSE not been such a break from the first two gens.

    At this point I'd drop Sceptile speed to 100..give +20 to attack for base 105 and 10 to special attack for 115..swap its SpD with HP..all that speed is wasted..Sceptile has 65 based DEF..Flying and poison physical destroys him in one shot anyways..not gonna get a chance to set up without almost dying. Better attack for physical coverage like rock slide/EQ to deal with flying..ice..fire..poison..bug...give it normal type to at least hit hard with STAB slash, extreme speed, hyper beam and other moves..can pick anything in this comment for possible suggestion. Him being a fast special attacker with only grass..all he can destroy is rock, ground and water..anything that can take a hit and return super effetively, he dies currently.

  • @xxCelebi
    @xxCelebi 22 часа назад

    Actually I do remember a battle I had trouble with that was a "normal" battle. It was outside fortree and it was a double battle with one trainer using manectric and the other had castform. So castform would use rain dance and use a boosted water weather ball and manectric would have a 100% accurate thunder. That duo destroyed me so many times. So much so that I started to avoid them altogether 😅

    Make Sceptile Part Dark Type. It Fire Perfect

  • @_WiZ420
    @_WiZ420 22 часа назад

    I actually realized something in the future that may be prevelant. In regards to field moves like Surf, I feel like they should be given to NPCs. You could match them to the area they're within, but for example, any trainer in Victory Road should have access to all of them, being trainers that have beaten all 8 gyms. If you allow HM Surf for NPCs in the water, you can allow unique sprites where trainers have pokemon alongside them, but that's more ambitious than anything. However, I do think that giving trainers Dive after Mossdeep is another interesting concept, assuming the 2--turn moves are buffed to some capacity. In regards to caves, Dig could be a good move for Pokemon with poor type coverage, just making it more feasible to encourage switch battling. Your Rival could also utilize the HMs, first utilizing Fly and then giving you the HM like they normally do. I think this concept could be used a lot more than it is right now, at least.

    22:00 I prefer Aerial Ace over Fly. Fly is nice to dodge but can also be dodged or countered with protect, swap out etc., meaning you basically doing nothing for 2 rounds. Also Aerial Ace strength is that it never misses. So when your enemy set ups double teams or tries lowering you accuracy, you can just laugh in their face. They both have cons & pros and imo they are pretty good balanced. Idk what you have with that move.

  • @aubeary190

    Changing existing secondary effects should be a last resort tbh. You start straying away from the identity of the move very quickly with stuff like the no crit 30% burn blaze kick or speed dropping muddy water.

      Someone after my own heart. I love the idea of weather ball on Sceptile. As it is Sceptile always wants Hidden Power ice or fire, weather ball covers both (just need a set up pokemon for Hail) Sunny Day, Growth, Weatherball, Solar Beam work well together or you could have Dragon Claw and Thunder punch for more coverage. I think Weather Ball works thematically for Sceptile as well (even though Swampert is the only Hoenn starter to get access to it in latter Gens for some reason), it has a Dex description of how it regulates its body temperature, sunny day and Weather Ball work with that description.

    My absolute part of this game was the pokemon availability. I FINALLY achieved my dream of having a mid-game Tauros in my E4 team. I also went through the game trying to use pokemon I never really used before like Vulpix/Ninetails. I ended up beating the game with only 5 pokemon on the team because I got all these great pokemon early/mid game, it almost didn't feel fair to have a late game joiner lol. I was thinking of adding in Grimer/Muk since I rarely ever used Poison, but I wasn't too motivated to grind again (or use rare candies) That said, my next team will definitely be a trades only team etc....can't wait

    Hello again! Enjoyed Yellow and Crystal Legacy, can’t wait for Emerald. Below I’m leaving what made Gen 3 so special for me. I still recall the day my dad bought my Sapphire at Walmart. This is also my physical copy entry 1. Weather! Completely blew my mind seeing weather in the overworld. Feel like more areas could benefit from this major debut, and definitely more trainers building powerful teams around it. 2. Secret hideouts are completely underrated. This was my personal favorite feature. Maybe wishful but I’d love to see them greatly expanded. Would be cool if there was a very well hidden hideout owned by a trainer or legendary that provides a great challenge. 3. First game I caught a shiny Pokémon. Would like shiny hunting to be a thing? Shiny charm (wasn’t released until gen 5) or a method to shiny hunt to keep me playing long past credits. 4. Your strong Pokémon list 100% hit my team. Have full trust that you’ll rebalance Pokémon and moves. 5. Last personal wish. Would really be cool to tie in other generations. Adding iconic characters from the other games in some way would really make the world feel connected like gold/silver was. Not at all asking that scale obviously. Good luck! Hope this helped at all.

    For me it isn't that about the starter itsef but rather the alternatives of it's type. Reworking every pokemon, there is still no firetype that's any good apart from Blaziken. For grass there is Ludicolo Shiftree... there are a milion watertypes that work. Swampert is great for itself, but sceptile screams really needs help. I get the not typechanges politic but what about a "pseudostab"? With that I mean, stronger attacks than usual that feel as a unique secondary typing. I'm thinking of flying, but could be anything.

    Both Sceptile and Blaziken also would deserve getting a boost for their BST to match Swampert, to avoid nerfing it. I dunno if that happens later in the stream, bc I'm posting this at the 34:45 timestamp, but both could really use that. Sceptile could get a +5 to Attack and Blaziken a +5 to its Speed. Or, if you wanna move Sceptile to just a Special Attacker role, maybe add +10 to its Defense, add another +5 to its Sp. Attack and reduce its Attack by -10? That way it like Swampert and Blaziken would have 110 in one of its attacking stats and they'd all be pretty comparable in terms of their defensive stats (with Sceptile still the least bulky but with the gaps being far less visible).

If you win you stay champ and the next time through it just repeats, if you lose then the next time you enter the champion room it's Wallace. If you win, repeat the defence loop, if you lose he stays in the champ room until you beat him

    My take: Buff Leaf Blade to 90 base power, keep the high crit rate, and Sceptile learns it at lvl 36 along w/ Focus Energy Also since you’re basing Sceptile’s moveset around it’s DexDescription (ninja/slasher) Consider making Aerial Ace or Dig a level up move. Just like Greninja line in Gen 6. Aerial Ace around lvl 18 for Brawly and Dig late 20’s for Flanery. Great for coverage. I like the the idea of adding the move “Growth”, switch it out for “Screech”
